Something I thought of just now 'kind of' to go along with the pets post because pets could be in the specialty store as well.  What I'm thinking of is, maybe CK should add a new item that has flashy graphics, and does something unique, every month.  This idea came from another game I used to play called Kingdom of Loathing.  They would introduce a new "item of the month" every month and people would pay 10$ to get a specific item called a "Mr accessory" and trade that for the item of the month.  In this game, the Mr accessory would not be needed since there is already ways of buying points and possibly selling points for credits.  The point of that item was that it could be sold for their currency.

So, I was just thinking about this, because imho I don't think this game is geared towards supporting CK, the dev so he could work on the game full time(or at least a little bit more).

Anyways, the reason these items were such hot commodities was that they would be sold for a month and then gone, and never sold by the devs.  This would give rise to people buying them with a Mr accessory worth 10mil "meat" and then possibly years later could put them in their shop for 40mil or more.

Generally, these Mr accessories would be sold for 10$ each which would work out to about 1k points if that's what the items of the month were sold for.  Ideally, the items would come from players of the game as opposed to just buying graphics, but I guess the players could be compensated somehow.

Dunno if this idea is kosher with the devs, but I thought I'd give it a try.

Hows it going, and have fun.

I do like the idea of limited edition items. It's nice to have things to collect that you know have a specific circulation. We need to put more focus on the speciality store in general.

My thoughts were, everywhere that I have those godawful "this is a placeholder" boxes will be instead showing things like:
  • Featured guilds / guild recruitment notices
  • Player X, guild Y has broken record Z this day/week/month
  • "Today only, x% sale on _____ in Speciality Store"
  • "New crate/chest location has spawned! Find it on Planet X, 23 hrs remaining"
  • "Relics respawned! Collect X more to unlock server-wide achievement!"

Things like that. Some of the above is in reference to some stuff I'm thinking about. Random crates dropped on maps a la C&C, with random prizes in. Relic hunters collecting special items for the monthly leaderboard, to win prizes, etc.

(smiley) That was my argument with things like the birthday cake and demonic helm. Keep those items being more rare by removing them from circulation and putting new items in their place. The thread is here: https://www.futurerp.net/pages/board_thread.php?id=4392

Okay so while we're at the whole specialty store subject, DJ and I were having conversations about not liking the current price of points.  Mainly the idea that if you are building a room of 50 bosses which can sometimes go by very quickly if a guild is raiding quickly, you have to pay 50$ total.  Making 10 rooms of a specific monster that's not a boss would cost 10k points which is 100$.

We were just thinking that maybe if the points were cheaper then more people might buy/use them.  Seems like there are a lot of bosses and non-boss monsters in the game now, but this is over a what, like 15+ year period?

Totally agree. yet another idea that was in the old forums & spoken about a lot. The cost of building maps is too expensive. A good raiding & grinding map would cost $thousands to build. The flip side is, member built maps add to the game! So you pay to build it to make the game better??

Free to use maps (unlocked no whitelist at all & the stay that way from creation) shouldn't cost to make at all or if so, literally a point/room at most.

If the map is locked, whitelisted or in anyway unable to be accessed by anyone, then you get to spend the coins at the going rate

Something that maybe a credit sink or something maybe loot boxes that can give consumables like snail juice, maybe even just whatever the halloween trick or treat doors can give.  Maybe there could be new items as well as a rare drop to those boxes.  Dunno if they would be put in a vendor list, or bought at the specialty store, but this kind of thing is maybe also a thing that could get people to spend a currency on.
