Well, I always saw it as you "learn" from defeating your opponents (explaining why some games give exp for losing, you still "learn" something), but then you "unlearn" from losing...
I mean, I understand stupidity for attacking people way higher than you(even though I still think you shouldn't lose exp for that, either), but for people close to or below your level? Not really; you shouldn't get punished when the odds are about even or in your favor, sometimes way in your favor.

How is it punishing you? It's a gamble and you lose! If you were to go outside and smack the first person you saw who looked the same height and weight as you would you expect nothing to happen to you if you lost the fight?

Stop whinging and play the game.

Quite true. To lose, there must be a winner. And winners gain exp. And where do they get the exp? From you(smiley)

Actually, yes, to about 50% percent of the people one level above me to 7/8 levels below me, and I generally win against all the people one level above me...

Sure, I get beaten up, and they may take my possesions, but I don't expect to unlearn anything, maybe even learn something (I mean, it's "experience" -the observing, encountering, or undergoing of things generally as they occur in the course of time; knowledge or practical wisdom gained from what one has observed, encountered, or undergone), unless I get knocked out so badly it screws up my brain.

That sounds wrong to me. I generally win against those a few levels below me.
It's only when you get up close does it become an issue.
