I like android os, but I don't think it'll ever be a desktop operating system. The UI paradigm is too different. You'll probably see more of it in the netbook market soon though, because there is talk of it merging with ChromeOS in the future.
Also, WebOS (Palm Inc's equivalent of Android) was just bought by HP and they're going to do a line of tablet computers with WebOS installed.

I've heard talk of it being run by modders 
so hopefully Google will decide to release an actual OS. I'd definitely pay for it.

They hate their early adopters, and that's from personal experience..
