Does anyone have any dodgy DIY solar setups?
They've just made it legal in the UK, from 27th August, to do balcony solar, where you literally plug the panels into a normal electrical outlet.
It's not huge, but I have 480W going into one system with 2000W inverter and 200AH LiFePO4 batteries, that I can use to charge laptop and run lights, etc., but it isn't grid-tied.
I also have another 740W going into plug-in solar that feeds into my home, so it can cover things like devices in standby, fridge, etc.
Seems the way to go, it's quite cheap so the ROI is short, and anyone can stick a few panels in their garden/balcony and plug a wire into an outlet.
Apparently they've been doing this in Germany for years, but in the UK, you needed an electrician to wire it into your consumer unit, until now.
