Keep the mail they get from lottery, hourly rewards etc.?

Nonetheless, you obviously don't, if you allow them to get deleted automatically.
The game has taken a liking to you. I never get that many prizes 
Also, that reminds me, I'd made the message purging script leave the messages for about 3 months instead of 2 weeks (I think). It's only temporary though. I had some messages that I didn't want to lose, and it was the laziest way to do it 
There is an argument that messages shouldn't be purged by the game, but really, most of them are useless after you're read them, and it all adds up. Perhaps if messages flagged special were exempt...

Being flagged as special should set it as do not delete for 30-60 days. When those days are almost up,(A week or so) You should get a notification that your flagged message is about ready to be deleted.
