As you may have noticed, we now have an in-page chat feature. There are some improvements planned, but if you have any suggestions, please add them to this thread.

Additionally, some usage notes:
  • To change text colour (while there's no colour picker), simply enter /color #rrggbb with any valid hex code
  • Unread messages while minimised will be highlighted on the tabs
  • Only three chat boxes can be open at the same time for now. If you open an extra one, the oldest one will be minimised. We can probably come up with a more intelligent solution to this in future, as I'm conscious that some players have plenty of screen real estate.
Idea suggestions:
  • Detach to separate window button
  • Expand one chat box to larger size (requires others to be minimised)
  • Limit open chat boxes dynamically by browser viewport area
  • More chat commands supported
    • Invite players into a private room
    • Set room topic text
    • Nickname support? (I actually think, this is probably just confusing, we can do without it imho)
  • A way to view list of players in the room
  • A colour picker UI for setting text colour (meanwhile, you can still use /color #RRGGBB btw)
  • Button to minimise all chat boxes in one click
  • Account setting to disable the chat entirely (just pre-empting the suggetion from someone (smiley)

There could be options for a preferred layout in the settings. To open chat tabs to the left, or upwards, as there is a lot of open space on the left and right sides, rather than down the bottom. Which also could open an option to hook the chat to the left instead, depending on preference.
Color picker could be nice, or at least an informative /help command to explain the other /commands lol.
Player list also for sure.
Most of what you suggest there or plan sounds good. I was also thinking resize would be nice too.
I think a lot can be done with this, since it doesn't require a page refresh; Such as something like... /raidIW, could put a notification in the chat to let IW members know there is a raid up, if they aren't actively browsing the site to trigger the flame to show a raid.

Add a floating style chat box, users can easily move the chat box where they would like it on their screen. Every page reload, refresh it would be in the same spot. Or maybe a stay on top script to keep chat window visiable in lower left or right corner on user preference.
