First of all i hope that this helps i just started  but going through all of the low lvls this guide should help you get to 10 ish

CHANGE YOUR Default Turns to 1 instead of 5
set your default to one. 

after doing this you wont waste turns
setting it lower means you will get lower cash but the % is not that much different and you need all turns you can get when trying to lvl

now that you have your default set to 1

Now it is time to look at your items


from here you can go and buy the cheap items
this making it possible to kill all or almost all of the players your lvl
after getting some items

ITS TIME TO LVL

you should go down to browse players and go to the last page
you will find players here you can easily kill
after killing a few you should be lvl 2
after that you move up a few pages find lvl 2 players and kill them and so on and so on

SKILLS
you dont really have to worry about skills to much
once you hit lvl 10 max your embezzle skill that way you gain more exp

Join a guild
The members will help you with any questions
and you get a bonus of them helping you attack
(which can come in very handy)

ADMIN - would it be possible to sticky this thread? albeit, editing the recruitment bit to "join any guild". this is a nice guide for beginners and it would save every other new player asking how to play =P

you should add two things (if you still care....)

one is that there are items readily available on the world if you walk through the beginning area to lookout point on lookout point

two is that fishing is a highly viable option after you get a fishing just go south of lookout point follow the path to the bridge cross the bridge and go south to the point by the water and click go fishing this produces brain fish which give 100 xp apiece
